Words to the wise…

When your kids are nearly 6 years apart, like ours are, there are bound to be some unintentionally interesting conversations taking place simultaneously. Tonight it was “Australian Politics 101” and “Appropriate Behaviour Towards Shoes”. For the record, the political discussion was with the seven year old.

Poor Mr L is cursed blessed with cynical parents, so his lesson on what occurs before an election went something along the lines of this:

Mum: Vote for me and I’ll give you an iPod Shuffle.
Dad: Vote for me and I’ll give you an Xbox.
Mum: And I’ll give you $500 to spend on lollies.
Dad: $600 for lollies. And a TV for your room. And a DVD player. And a stereo system.
Mum: And I’ll get you the next Harry Potter a week before everyone else.

Mr L (thinking carefully): I vote for Dad.

Dad: Great! Now you’ve voted for me, I’m not giving you anything.

Mr L: Then I vote for Mum.

Mum: I’m not giving you anything either.

Mr L: I can’t win!

Us: That’s politics.

And while this scintillating exchange was taking place, there was another, just as enlightening occurring:

Dad: A, put the shoe down.
Mum: Ew, yucky don’t lick the shoe. Yucky. Take it out of your mouth. Ta for Mum. Ta. Give Mum the shoe. Out of your mouth. Yes, you make that face when something is yucky. Ta for Mum.

Catch ya…

Your on my blogroll so I always read too. but I’m a total slacker with commenting. I think I have a son around the same age as A…also an A. 😉 At least some of the conversations are similar. LOL Thanks for the coupon.

Ugh, that’s supposed to be “you’re.” See, I’m too distracted by 3 kids; that’s why I don’t comment more. I hate grammar mistakes. LOL

LOL Karen! I loved your story – your take on politics is pretty accurate (hehehe). I tried to leave a comment for you last night but it hasn’t posted so I’ll try again. Thank you so much for the coupon. I’ll head over to SBB to use it – I LOVE your designs!
