Jets, grid girls and Chinese Taipei divers…

I think we’re still in recovery mode from a big weekend. We had an awesome time, sans children, although we did miss them both – we saw so much Mr L in particular would have loved.

We dropped Mr A off at Mapa’s Saturday morning (after he woke ONCE in the night – he must have forgiven me for sleep school already) and headed to town. We called in to see Mr G’s sister (and a scrap shop and wool shop) and headed up to the Gardens to meet my friend and her family. When we got out of the car we could hear the roar of the F1 racing cars a couple of kms away at the Grand Prix, which was pretty cool – and loud. While we were walking through to the meeting point I heard the loudest, thundering noise I have ever heard. Avalon Air Show is next weekend and there was an F18 doing a 10 minute show to promote it. Awesome. I haven’t been to the Air Show since Mr L was born, but 2009 – we’re going. I love it, and seeing the F18 was incredible.

We spent about 2 hours in the garden – I took a couple of hundred photos and had a ball. I’ve known them all for years so it was awesome to catch up and go nuts with the camera.

And I love this one:

We checked in to our hotel and headed out for dinner at our favourite Chinese restaurant and then to Borders for a browse through the books. FINA Swimming was on, and there were a lot of athletes staying at our hotel, so we shared lifts with swimmers and divers and team officials. Made it all a little bit more exciting (we don’t get out much).

Next morning we had a leisurely breakfast (exciting in itself for it’s leisurely-ness) and had a couple of F1 grid girls sitting on the next table, much to the delight of Mr G. We shared a lift with a Chinese Taipei diver and headed out for a walk in the nearby gardens. Took more photos, and persuaded Mr G to let me take a photo of him (one photo in ten years isn’t bad).

And here’s one of me with my new hair cut.

We went to Ikea for a drool, and Lincraft for more of a drool and then home through the Dandenongs. So good to see the boys – they were as good as gold, even Mr A, who didn’t miss us at all.

And today it’s raining. Life is good.
Catch ya…
