This time of year is when it starts getting busy at our place. I don’t know what it is – I can’t blame Christmas, because 99% of what we end up doing/going to is not related to Christmas at all, but from this weekend onwards, things go a little crazy. It’s mostly good – catching up with family and friends and community events. It’s just a little …. odd I suppose, for a family that doesn’t really “get out” much to suddenly find ourselves heading off to social things all the time.

This weekend has been good. Lots of grandparent action yesterday. Lunch at Mr G’s parents – roast lamb, yuuuumy! and back to my parents, and that somehow ended up with them coming over for fish and chips for dinner. Needless to say we haven’t eaten a lot today (although Mr A has – I think it’s a growth spurt).

Mr A has now mastered a movement that looks something akin to a mildly distressed seal heading towards an ice shelf. Complete with noises. He sees something interesting (and interesting is pretty much anything these days) and off he flips. Life as I know it is over. He made it to the kitchen door today, and I think he stunned himself into immobility. He lay there looking at the big world beyond for 10 minutes while we made lunch. I think he’ll try and head through it tomorrow. Fun, fun, fun.

Mr L’s first swimming lesson was super successful, much to the relief of everyone, Mr L included! He can’t wait to go back again. Mr G, who’s giving up one lunch time a week to go and help out, has realised a few things. That 5 and 6 yr old boys are noisy. That they may or may not be able to tie their shoes. That it is possible to walk in to the change room fully clothed and then “lose” half of them when you try to get dressed again. That just because mum puts your name on things doesn’t mean you know. Or care. It’s been enlightening.

And before I toddle off to bed, here are today’s stitches – black and white. Enjoy.

Catch ya…

thanks for the stitches. And funny about Mr G realizing a lot of things with little boys. It’s great that he’s helping out! 🙂
