Random…

I’ve spend the last hour pulling my hair out learning scripting in Photoshop, all so that I could create something that would rotate a layer randomly. It’s been a while since I’ve done something that technical, but I forgot how good it feels when it comes together. :) Now to see if I can make a randomly rotating selection, or whether to cut my loses and run.

We had a great weekend. Birthday tea for Mr G, lots of hanging out together and a fantastic trip to an alpaca farm. I love knitting with alpaca yarn and it was great to see and learn more about them. I’m a little besotted with them now.

Time to do some planning  before Mr A is up and the school run starts.

Yeah, I’m here…

The weather has been gorgeous so I’ve been spending some time outside with my boys. And then inside doing some heavy duty cleaning/organizing. The house is looking better for it though!

I had a great birthday, made the more special as my brother and nephew came home for the weekend. Here’s Mr T and Mr L in a sleeping bag, reading a book, while Mr A is, as always, eating.

I made some Ghosties the other day. We don’t do Halloween here in Australia (don’t get me started on that one), but that doesn’t mean I can’t make some fun spooky stuff.

Back…

We’re back. Death is never easy for me, no matter what the persons age. Knowing my Nan lived a long life is some comfort. She will be missed. Thank you to all those who emailed me – it’s been appreciated.

And the cross at the summit of Mount Macedon – very pleased with this photo, considering it was a spur of the moment with the point and shoot.

So it’s back to work for me. Got some interesting things in the works soon. You can always check out what my Creative Team have been up to for inspiration.

And so it goes…

My dear Nan passed away on Tuesday. My last grandparent. My mum’s mum. This is one of my favourite photos of her – with Mr L – a few years back. She was a very funny lady and an amazing knitter. I’d like to think some of her knitting skills have come my way. I can but hope.

She’s at peace now and we should take comfort from that. Make sure you tell your grandparents how much you love them, ok?

What do you use?

How do you keep track of the blogs you read? Do you use Bloglines or another feed tracker? I’m curious! I’ve just added a Feedburner link to my site to see how that goes, but I’d like to know what you use.

I am Sock Queen, hear me roar…

I am still knitting madly. The weather isn’t warm enough to abandon it, but it is nice enough to sit outside with the boys and knit while they run wild.

I’m on my second pair of “serious” socks. I had a couple of “test” socks just to get the idea, then I attempted the first real pair using 2x 2.5mm circular needles, self striping sock yarn and *eeek* no pattern. Yes, I’m a slight over achiever. Here they are in all their glory:

They’re not 100% right. The size is, and the pattern is, but the toe cast on (they’re knitted from the toe up) isn’t great, nor are the short rows on the heels. But I got the taste. I could see success of the horizon. So I cast on another pair.

This time, it was the Turkish cast on (so much better and so much easier) and then I spent a bit of time this morning, in between breaking up wresting matches between the unevenly matched 1 and 7 year olds (that 1 year old is the main culprit I have to say!) practicing picking up my short row wraps and bingo – I am Sock Queen. I am about 4 inches along and all is going great. I’m actually very impatient to get to the heel, now that I’ve got it sorted.

But I can be patient. I’m one month into the wait for my Ravelry invite. I reached critical mass last night – there are now more people behind me in the wait than in front of me. Mind you, there are still 7947 in front of me, but there are 8541 behind me now! It’s hard being #30628….

Introducing…

The new additions to my Creative Team:

  • Julia Oehme
  • LeeAndra Blicher
  • Bren Taylor-Boone
  • Lisa Baum
  • Tabatha Reed
  • Anja Jahn

They’ll join Cammy Plummer, Kirsty Blinston and Priscilla Halliday and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am. So much talent it makes my head hurt. In a good way.

I’d like to thank everyone who applied. I’m constantly amazed by the depth of talent the digi scrap community has.

Behind the scenes, Cammy has been hard at work setting up a Karen Hunt Creative Team blog. Pop on over and say hi! And keep watching for things to come – including some very cool freebies I’m working on.
